Campus Update: Boston University

By Joel Udwin
KOACH Intern

Our semester is starting off with a bang at Boston University. We began our year with our first annual KOACH "Dine and Dash." Our "Dine and Dash" program was a progressive dinner that allowed our new students to feel integrated into the established Conservative Jewish community at Boston University. We had over 45 students participate in the program, half of whom were new to campus.

Service attendance has been up this semester, with approximately 60 students regularly attending the Conservative minyan on Friday nights. Our services are 100% student led, with students leading services, reading Torah, and contributing ruah (spirit) to the service.

KOACH at Boston University is really excited for our upcoming events this semester! We will be hosting our well attended Drash and Dine(s) with Rabbi Elyse Winick (KOACH Director) each Monday. We also look forward to hosting monthly community building potlucks (which also happen to encourage service attendance). KOACH at Boston University aims to strengthen the community feel of Conservative Judaism on campus, while attracting new students using these events.

I hope this campus update gave you an idea of what is going on with KOACH at Boston University. We can’t wait for everyone to come and visit during the KOACH Kallah!
