Campus Update
Jennifer Jalowiec
KOACH Intern
University of Arizona
This semester is off to a great start! There are so many new and enthusiastic
faces coming to KOACH events. We started the year off with fantastic
Shabbat services. During services, my co-chair and I really wanted to focus on
the idea of community, so we had an icebreaker so the new attendees had an
opportunity to integrate themselves into our KOACH community. After a
phenomenal first Shabbat, KOACH hosted an Open Mic Night. We had coffee,
tea and desserts, as well as an amazing coffee house ambiance in our own café at
Hillel. The students loved the Open Mic; they had the opportunity to express
themselves in any way they wanted. We had our Hillel Rabbi come in and sing a
few songs for us, which were not only entertaining, but also hilarious. He
showed us how music can help us connect to our Judaism. Sweets in the Sukkah was
a tasty end to the holiday season. It has been a great start to the year, and it
is only going to go up from here!
