Job Description |
Congregation Beth Shalom, an egalitarian conservative
synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is seeking a Youth
Director. This person must be enthusiastic; versatile;
flexible; possess leadership skills; have excellent
communication skills and be able to interface effectively with
youth, teens, parents, and leadership within the synagogue and

JCC's Camp Chi is seeking a Teen Village Director to manage all
aspects of Chi's Teen Village (Noar). Specifically, the Teen
Director will provide leadership for campers and create an
environment where campers can build their Jewish identity,
self-esteem, independence, as well as strong group
relationships. In addition, this position involves staff
supervision and management. This is a high-level, supervisory,
administrative position for a person with significant camp
leadership experience.
Responsibilities include implementation of age-appropriate and
fun programs and special events, supervise and evaluate all
counseling staff in village, implementation of the JCCs of
Chicago's mission to "Bring Jewish Values to Life", supervise
teen field trips, coordinate with facilities staff to maintain
dining hall, cabins, and bathhouses, communicate with parents,
and other camp supervisory responsibilities as assigned.
The Teen Village Director must be at least 21 years old and
available June 1-August 8, 2008. significant previous camp
experience is required along with a desire to work with teens

Job Description |
This full-time educator works with children, youth, and families
in both informal and formal education. The Synagogue Educator
teaches in the Hebrew school, coordinates youth programs, and is
involved in family education programming.
Temple Emunah is affiliated with the United Synagogue of
Conservative Judaism. It is an egalitarian congregation with a
professional staff that includes a rabbi, assistant rabbi,
executive director, educational director, youth director and
preschool director. The synagogue educator/youth advisor will be
supervised by the director of education and youth director and
supported by a lay youth and school committee.
Areas of Responsibility
Teaching
- Teach approximately 14 hours per week in grades 3-7 broken
down as follows:
Sunday - 4 hours
Monday- 2 hours
Tuesday - 2 hours
Wednesday - 4 hours
Thursday - 2 hours
Religious School Programming
- Lead High Holiday & bi-monthly Shabbat services for youth
and/or implement two Youth Community Shabbatonim & one Retreat
- Plan curriculum and implement the educational vision of Temple
Emunah
- Participate in and help plan family education activities
- Plan and staff Shabbatonim & youth retreat
- Work on Family education and synagogue wide endeavors
- Work as a liaison to a synagogue committee such as Social
Action Committee

The Synagogue Educator/Advisor is responsible for the
programming for one of Temple Emunah's youth groups. Together
with the Youth Director the chapter advisor will plan and
implement a calendar of activities that:
- Is balanced including education, religious and social events
- Integrates with activities of the New England Regional USY
- Facilitates the continued growth of the Youth program
- Reaches out and creates a sense of community with Youth who
are currently not involved in the youth program |
